Frequently Asked Questions

Preparation & Practicalities

  • In the days leading up to ceremony, be mindful of what you’re putting into your body. Aim for a clean, nourishing diet and avoid heavily processed foods for 3–5 days beforehand. It’s also recommended to avoid alcohol during this time, as it can interfere with the medicine and your energetic sensitivity.

Equally important is tending to your inner space. Rest well, stay hydrated, and begin setting an intention for what you’re hoping to receive or explore during ceremony. Keeping your schedule lighter, spending time in nature, and minimizing excess stimulation (such as excessive screen time or stressful environments) can also help you arrive feeling more present and open.

  • Come prepared to feel comfortable and supported. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and consider bringing layers, as your body temperature may fluctuate while connecting with Spirit. While blankets and pillows are provided, you’re welcome to bring anything that helps you feel fully at ease.

Bring water to stay hydrated. Personal items such as crystals, stones, photos, or other objects of sentimental significance can be placed on the altar to support your connection and intention during the ceremony. This is your sacred space. Anything that helps you feel grounded, safe, and open is encouraged.

  • Not necessarily. Follow your usual daily routine and listen to your body. If you normally eat breakfast, feel free to do so. If you typically skip meals until later in the day, that’s fine too. The key is to arrive feeling comfortable, nourished, and grounded, rather than overly full or hungry. This way you can be fully present in the ceremonial experience.

  • A full ceremony usually spans 5–6 hours from beginning to end, allowing time for preparation, connection, and integration afterward. The journey within the medicine itself typically lasts 3–4 hours, though each individual’s experience may vary.

This timeframe ensures there is ample space for participants to safely connect, receive guidance, and fully process the medicine while maintaining a grounded and supported environment.

  • Ceremonies are held in a small, intimate studio space near the coast of Gloucester, MA, in the quiet seaside village of Magnolia. The room is designed to support connection and comfort, filled with lively indoor plants, a soft fabric ceiling, and an altar adorned with crystals, instruments, and other ceremonial tools.

For your privacy, shades are drawn on the doors and windows. The door is locked to create a cozy, protected environment. A bathroom is available on site. There is an apothecary in the back kitchen for any herbal support or ceremonial needs. The space is intentionally curated to help participants feel safe, grounded, and fully supported throughout their experience.

Medicine Experience

  • Christina works with Spirit Guides and tunes into the energy of each individual to determine the dose that will best support their journey. Every person’s needs are unique, and doses typically range from 1.5–3 grams, with most participants finding 3 grams to be appropriate. This personalized approach ensures that each participant can safely and fully connect with the medicine, receiving the maximum benefit of healing while remaining grounded and anchored in their body.

  • Consuming the medicine in a ceremonial, intentional setting is very different from recreational or party use. During ceremony, you are connecting inwardly to your highest, truest self through the sentient intelligence of the medicine. Everyone’s experience is unique, and the sensations or altered states you may encounter can differ greatly from any previous use or experimentation with plant medicine. While shifts in perception or awareness are common, the journey is always grounded in your personal healing and spiritual growth.

  • Experiences with the medicine can vary greatly from person to person. Most people keep their eyes closed, and any visuals typically arise through the third eye. These can include colors, geometric patterns, fractals, animals, or people, etc. With eyes open, most participants notice the world appearing more vivid or subtly altered, while a small number may experience more dramatic shifts in the shapes of people or objects. Some participants may notice little or no visual difference at all.

How you experience visuals can depend on factors such as how open your third eye is, your level of grounding in the body, and your personal energetic state. Every journey is unique, and there is no “right” way to see or feel during ceremony.

  • In Christina’s many years of holding ceremonial space, truly overwhelming experiences have been rare. Proper setting, clear intention, and thoughtful dosing go a long way in supporting a safe and grounded journey. That said, moments of discomfort or challenge can arise, as the medicine works by bringing awareness to what is ready to be seen, felt, or released.

If discomfort begins to surface, Christina gently invites you to sit with it, allowing curiosity rather than resistance to guide the experience. If at any point it feels like too much, you are always able to open your eyes, reconnect with your body, and step out of the imagery or information you are receiving. There is enough bodily awareness during ceremony to consciously re‑anchor yourself. Whatever the individuals process may be, there is never any judgment in sacred space.

If fear arises, one simple and powerful tool is to meet it with love, such as blowing a kiss, offering a hug, or consciously sending compassion toward what you are experiencing. Love carries the highest vibration and can gently dissolve fear or lower‑frequency emotions when met with presence.

Christina remains fully attuned throughout ceremony and is deeply aware when moments become heavier or more intense. She is there with you, supporting, guiding, and assisting, through channeled guidance from Spirit and her extensive shamanic training. While challenging moments are uncommon, you can find comfort in knowing nothing that has light shined upon it can truly stay dark for long.

  • Each ceremony begins with an opening. A calling in of Spirit and creating a sacred space that is fully safe, protected, and supportive. Music gently guides the journey throughout the ceremony, often from a curated playlist, though Christina may also drum, rattle, or use singing bowls when called to do so. Eye masks and eye pillows are available and encouraged for use, helping participants fully relax and turn inward.

As Christina tunes into the subconscious of each individual, she receives guidance and takes notes. She can share this information during the ceremony or afterward in a detailed email, depending on what is most supportive for the participant. Ceremonies are brought to a closing, mirroring the opening. Participants are gently re-grounded, often with crystalized ginger to anchor back into the body, and gratitude is expressed for the energies and presences that supported the journey.

During ceremony, energy may naturally release in various ways. Yawning, burping, clearing the throat, coughing, laughing, crying, or frequent use of the bathroom can be common. Participants are invited to lie down, sit, or move in any way that feels called, allowing the body to express and release energy freely. You may notice Christina herself moving, yawning, or making sounds. This is simply how she personally releases energy and stays attuned to the space, supporting the overall flow of the ceremony.

  • The comfort and clarity of this varies per individual. Upon departure, Christina ensures each participant is fully grounded and re-anchored into their body. This is supported energetically and with nourishing food, helping the body and mind return to baseline. The studio’s location also encourages a gentle walk or even dipping your feet into the ocean to further aid grounding.

Even if you feel alert or capable, driving immediately after ceremony is not recommended. The effects of the medicine may subtly influence perception, reaction time, or decision-making, even when you feel fine. For your safety and to protect the integrity of the ceremony, participants are strongly encouraged to arrange alternative transportation such as a friend, family member, Uber, Lyft, or taxi.

For those wishing to make the experience more leisurely, nearby accommodations include The Beauport Hotel (3 miles away) or the Castle Manor Inn, a historic inn located closer to the entrance to Magnolia.

Safety & Suitability

  • Ceremony is not appropriate for individuals experiencing severe mental health challenges, such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, active high-risk suicidal ideation, or severe trauma without proper stabilization. Plant medicine works by gently loosening certain energetic and emotional patterns. Without adequate support or grounding, pre-existing energetic imbalances may feel amplified, creating greater fractures, rather than repair.

Those actively struggling with substance abuse, including alcohol or harder drugs, are encouraged to reach a baseline of sobriety before participating. Anyone under the influence of any substances during ceremony will not be allowed to participate. If a person is unable or unwilling to make this commitment to themselves, Christina is not the practitioner for them. For those who have maintained sobriety for any length of time, it’s helpful to ask yourself: “Would consuming this medicine feel aligned with my commitment to sobriety?”

Ceremony is conducted in the context of medicine with intention and reverence. Individuals who are approaching the experience purely recreationally, or without respect for the medicine and its guidance, are not permitted to participate, as the integrity of the medicine and the safety of the space must always be upheld.

Christina holds the integrity of the medicine and the safety of the space as her highest priority, and participation is only offered to those ready to engage with it responsibly, with respect, and in alignment with their own highest good.

  • Yes. Ceremony is not recommended for individuals experiencing severe mental health challenges (such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, active high-risk suicidal ideation, or severe trauma without proper stabilization) or for anyone under the influence of substances.

Additionally, individuals who are pregnant, nursing, or managing serious medical conditions should approach ceremony with discernment, tuning into their own body and readiness before participating, and/or consulting a medical professional. Plant medicine works on a subtle energetic level, and personal awareness and grounding are essential for a safe and supportive experience.

  • Every individual’s situation is unique. Christina does not provide medical advice or guidance on medications, and she does not recommend stopping or adjusting any prescribed treatment. If you are taking medications, this information must be disclosed prior to ceremony to help determine your eligibility to participate.

Integration & Aftercare

  • This varies for each individual. Some people may need months between ceremonies, while others may be guided toward a more intentional series of sittings. The medicine and Spirit offer direct insight into what is needed. Most people naturally know when the time is right and feel a clear calling when it is appropriate to sit with the medicine again.

  • Integration is the process of bringing the newest version of yourself into everyday reality. While some people experience an initial “afterglow” in the days following ceremony, additional insights, emotions, and realizations may continue to unfold over time.

Grounding practices are especially supportive during this phase. Spending time in nature, maintaining a regular meditation practice, and journaling can help you process and anchor what was revealed. Paying attention to dreams is also important, as Spirit may continue to communicate through them. Staying mindful of what you put into your body and how you care for yourself can further support this process.

Having a trusted support system, people you feel safe sharing your experience with, can be deeply clarifying. Talk therapy can also be a valuable tool for integration. Energy work may help continue the release and movement of what has surfaced (which Christina also offers).

Integration looks different for everyone and unfolds in its own timing. Trust the process, honor your experience, and recognize the courage it takes to step into the unknown and invest in your own healing and self-worth.

  • For one-on-one ceremonies, Christina provides a written reflection of the experience, capturing the insights and information that came through during the journey. This allows clients to revisit the ceremony with clarity and support their ongoing integration.

Clients are welcome to reach out via email with follow-up questions, reflections, or updates as they continue to process their experience. Christina values hearing how the medicine continues to unfold and is happy to offer grounded guidance when appropriate.

If additional support feels helpful, integration sessions with energy work may be scheduled separately to further support the process. All ongoing support is offered with care, clear boundaries, and respect for each individual’s personal healing journey.

Boundaries & Logistics

  • Christina considers it an honor and a privilege to hold space for those called to this work. Anything that arises or is shared during ceremony is treated with care, respect, and confidentiality. Personal experiences, insights, and conversations are kept private, honoring the safety and integrity of the ceremonial space.

  • Due to the sensitive nature of this work, Christina understands that rescheduling or canceling may be necessary in order to enter ceremony in the right state of mind. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to reschedule a ceremony for a more aligned time.

Christina reserves the right to defer, reschedule, cancel, or alter any ceremony if circumstances require. Once a ceremony has begun, refunds are not permitted.

If you have questions not answered here, you’re always welcome to reach out. Christina believes informed consent and clear communication are essential when entering ceremonial space.
